Refinery Units where Antifoam finds its extensive application
Foaming in these units is a serious issue and its carry over can hinder the entire crude refining process, leading to even unexpected shutdowns. Antifoams comprised up of Polydimethylsiloxanes are thermally stable and are most preferred in foam destabilization in crude refinery units. It works by weakening the froth layer, causing small bubbles to stick together up to an extent of size till it completely gets ruptured.
